Accounting topics include internal decision making, financial statement analysis, taxation and auditing. You'll analyze financial records and accounting information to aid in strategic planning and business development. 

Am I the right fit for this option?

For this rigorous program, you need to have demonstrated an ability to do well in core courses in the area. If you have less than a 65% standing in COMM 190 (formerly COMM 290), COMM 191 (formerly COMM 291), COMM 293, COMM 294, and COMM 295 we advise you not to pursue the Accounting option (see eligibility criteria).

Understanding your electives

42 elective credits 

27 of 42 credits must be non-Commerce. 

A minimum of 12 credits of these electives must be at the 300- or 400-level. 

15 of 42 credits can be COMM or non-COMM electives. A minimum of 3 credits of these electives must be at the 300-400 level.  

NB: a total of 15 credits from all your elective credits, whether Commerce or non-Commerce, must be at the 300-level or higher.

  • The behavioural aspects of marketing decisions include elective courses from such disciplines as sociology, psychology, and cultural anthropology.
  • The economic aspects of marketing decisions include elective courses from such disciplines as economics, geography, and political science.
  • The quantitative aspects of marketing decisions include elective courses from such disciplines as mathematics, computer science, management science, and senior level statistics.
